Casa Di Tigliano

The property is located in the hamlet of “Tigliano” in the municipality of Pontassieve, which has been part of the Fattoria di Grignano for many centuries.
It originated as a tower house in the 12th century. Subsequent enlargements resulted in the “scapicozzatura” of the tower, and before being used as a farmhouse, it was used for religious purposes, as specific finishes, in the present living room, suggest.
Tigliano is a delightful hamlet where peace and quiet is assured.
The property, regular in shape and free on four sides, was renovated in the 2000s by the current owners and continuously improved in subsequent years.
It is arranged on two levels. On the ground floor we find a large living room with an important working fireplace, ceiling with exposed beams and “handmade” terracotta floors. Communicating with the living room is the beautiful eat-in kitchen and dining room.
The kitchen is characterized by the beautiful Carrara marble details with which the solid wood countertop was made unique with the sink, cooktop and tabletop. The brick ribbed ceiling characterizes the dining room. Both rooms have direct access to the large outdoor slab with a terracotta floor that extends the living area during summer periods. Adjacent to the dining room is a large room used as a pantry. Also on the same floor a second living room that can be used as a study/bedroom. Two bathrooms. A stone staircase leads down to the charming cellar with brick vaults.
The upper floor consists of a large living room/library at the living room with a fireplace below, four bedrooms and two bathrooms.
Thanks to the presence of two connecting stairwells, an independent portion can be obtained from the consistency of the property.
The property is characterized by ceilings ranging between 3.20 m and 3.50 m, open spaces, and many openings to the outside, features not easily found in farmhouses. The stone portals on the ground floor are valuable.

In addition to the terracotta slab mentioned above, a lovely garden completes the property.
The hamlet and the property are located in a position from which, as far as the eye can see, no settlements such as factories, highways, railways. The landscape is, therefore, made up of woods and estates cultivated with olive trees and vines. Clearly visible are the Consuma Pass and the forest of Vallombrosa with the bell tower of the Abbey.
The area enjoys a favourable climate, both because of its protected position from the north and its height above sea level (400m).
It is 16km from Florence, and there is a public bus service to Florence, with a stop 150m from the property.
At the Sieci train station (8 km away) 4 trains per hour guarantee a connection with Florence (Campo Marte station in 11 minutes, S.M.Novella station in 16/20 minutes).
